Sterling Country is a Country and variety music dance band established 30+ years ago. Based out of Taylor, Texas, Sterling Country performs at iconic Texas dance halls (public gigs) and for private dance clubs across central Texas.
Led by front man Scooter Dubec (vocals, tenor sax, & guitar), the band also features Olin Melton (lead guitar & vocals), Ronnie Hesselmeyer (bass), Justin Dubec (vocals & drums), and Royce Reed (vocals, keyboards & accordian).
Sterling Country's mission is to "keep 'em dancing" all night, by playing a mix of popular mix of traditional and contemporary C&W music, along with a sprinkling of 50s-80s rock, and (to pay homage to central Texas' "roots music") they uniquely play Czech/Texan polkas, waltzes, and schottisches.
Bo's Barn (Temple), Cotton Country Club (Granger), Tom Sefcik Dance Hall (Temple), the Diamond I Venue (Dime Box), and the Temple SPJST Hall are a few of the public venues where Sterling Country keeps the dance floor full all night. In addition to these publci gigs, Sterling Country plays a bunch of private parties in central Texas.
